The Mariveles District Hospital will now be officially known as the Enrique T. Garcia, Jr. General Hospital following the enactment of Provincial Ordinance No. 15, series of 2024.
The ordinance, authored by Vice Governor Ma. Christina M. Garcia and approved by Governor Jose Enrique S. Garcia III along with the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, honors the late Enrique T. Garcia, Jr., former Congressman of the Second District of Bataan, former Bataan Governor, and a well respected figure in Bataan’s history.
The renaming of the hospital reflects a renewed commitment to enhancing healthcare services, not only for the residents of Mariveles but for the entire province of Bataan. Local officials emphasized that this move aims to uphold the legacy of Enrique T. Garcia, Jr., while ensuring better medical services for the people.
Governor Garcia stated that the renaming symbolizes a mission to improve public health and expand access to quality healthcare across the province.
The Enrique T. Garcia, Jr. General Hospital continues to serve as a critical healthcare facility in Mariveles, catering to the growing needs of the community and strengthening the province’s medical services infrastructure.
